www.glossoppool.co.nr held our qualifier for the Pub Pool Challenge on Tuesday the 25th of April 2006. Turnout was a respectable 18 players and the cost was only £2.50 with all tables on free play for the night.  The draw saw many of the pre event favourites kept apart in the early going however a few tasty ties did emerge.

The prelims saw a very unlucky Ross Fothergill go in off on his black against Mark Beech.  In the other prelim Mathew Perry ended Simon Hinchliffe's interest very early as the Commercial B's captain never really found his rhythm.  In the pick of the last 16 James Hardy (Comm A) and Adam Clark (Melandra) went head to head.  James just edging it after both players had practiced on the other table.  Total unknown Marat Polit caused a stir as he went though his last 16 match against Liam Hanley.  Perry Bethall ousted Mathew Perry who can consider himself unlucky after accidentally pocketing the 8 ball developing his only awkward ball.  Tony Gee eased past Mark Beech and Ian Sanders destroyed Mark Smith (co-organizer) leaving him with egg on his face after several visits he was left with 7 up. The other real mouth watering clash saw Rick Jones (Melandra) beaten by Commercial A captain Jason King.  Jason made a nice finish after a tight start to the encounter.

The last 8 saw Tony Gee in good form again as he beat the young sensation Perry Bethall after what had promised to be a close encounter was fairly one sided as Tony left Perry very little in the way of clear cut chances.  Ian sanders continued his impressive start beating Martin ford who had just ousted Simon Lumbard.  In the bottom half James Hardy and his captain Jason King squared off, James coming though after a close match.  Marat Polit continued on the road after he was fortunate to beat Tom Mathews after Tom potted black and white.

Tony Gee (Monday individuals champions) went head to head with long time adversary Ian Sanders.  Both Players attacked the balls and Tony was able to work a good chance after Ian had created pressure early.  Tony cleared nicely to go to the final.  In the other Semi Marat Polit played James Hardy.  With no previous encounters the players slugged it out with James eventually taking up his final berth.

The final was the clash of two team mates with a host of honours between them.  They were amongst the pre tournament favourites and the draw had put them in opposite halves.  James gained early control as the balls had broken fairly awkwardly.  Tony was unlucky to see a ball drop that would have covered 3 of James's balls and James took advantage to take out his finish and win the Glossop qualifier of the Pub Pool Challenge.
